Contest Rules & Entry Form

Hosted by Ascend Solo Games

Contest Overview

The Triad Tales: Starbound Ascension Community Art Contest gives artists a chance to create original artwork inspired by the world of Triad Tales.

Participants may create an original character, card front, card frame, or card back design based on one of the game’s main factions:

Starbound
Beastkin
Oddlings

Artwork should feel like it belongs within the fantasy, anime-inspired, pixel-styled world of Triad Tales: Starbound Ascension.

Creative Direction

Your personal art style is welcome, but the final design should stay close enough to the atmosphere of the game that it feels natural when placed in-game.

Designs do not have to look identical to the current game art, but they should feel like they belong in the same universe.

Submission Requirements

Each submission should be designed for use in Triad Tales: Starbound Ascension and must follow the required card layout format.

Artists may submit either:

Option 1: Full Card Art Character

A full 2:3 character artwork designed to fit inside an official Triad Tales card frame.

Requirements:

  • 2:3 aspect ratio

  • PNG format

  • Full character artwork or scene artwork

  • Character or main subject should be clearly visible

  • Artwork should fit visually within the Triad Tales card style

Option 2: Full Card Design Set

A complete card design set may include:

Card Frame

  • 2:3 aspect ratio

  • PNG format preferred

  • Must include an open center space for card artwork

  • The center area must remain clear so character art can be placed inside without being covered

  • Borders, decorations, faction symbols, stars, runes, crystals, or frame effects are allowed as long as they do not block the main artwork

Card Back

  • 2:3 aspect ratio

  • PNG format

  • Designed as the back side of a Triad Tales card

  • Should match the fantasy, anime-inspired, pixel-styled atmosphere of the game

Important Art Notes

  • Do not place important details too close to the edges

  • Keep the character or main subject clearly visible

  • Designs that are easier to adapt into the game may have a stronger chance of being selected

  • Artwork should stay within the Starbound, Beastkin, or Oddlings theme

  • One submission per participant
